The soy wax I have chosen is 100% GM free with no pesticides or herbicides used at any stage during its cultivation. Soy beans are a renewable source and the wax is naturally bio-degradable, so it really is an eco-friendly product. The great benefits of using soy wax is that it has excellent fragrance holding qualities whether your candle is lit or not.
What I love about soy is its creamy colour and texture; to keep this beautiful sophisticated quality, I do not add any colour to my candles. Your soy candle will burn down cleanly but please do refer to my ‘Candle Care’ page for information on how to get the most out of your candle.
Essential oils and high quality fragrance are added to the 100% natural soy wax. The wicks are also 100% natural and are designed specifically to burn best in soy wax candles.
Another reason I love using soy wax is because candles made of paraffin wax can produce petrol carbon soot and release toxic carcinogens in to the air. However, natural cotton wicks will smoke if not burned properly or if the wicks are never trimmed. Therefore to get the most out of your candles, please remember to trim the wick before each use.
So if I were to sum up the benefits of soy, I would say:
It is 100% vegetable, made from pure soy bean oil
It burns longer and more cleanly than paraffin wax without soot build up
It is natural, biodegradable and free from pesticides and herbicides
It is produced without genetically modified material
It is easy to clean up with soap and hot water, eliminating the need for solvents
It is not subject to animal testing
It is a renewable, sustainable resource
If you have not had the pleasure of trying a soy candle before, I truly hope you enjoy your Chiltern Candle.
